About this course
Saraswati Coaching Classes runs HSC Commerce classes for FYJC (11th) and SYJC (12th) students at six branches in Mumbai's western suburbs. Our S.L.B. (Serious Learner's Batch) covers Accounts, Economics, OCM, SP and Maths as per the Maharashtra Board syllabus, with daily classes and regular tests. We have been teaching in Mumbai since 1991. Commerce looks easy from the outside. Then you meet your first trial balance that refuses to tally. The truth is, Commerce rewards students who practise steadily. What Is the S.L.B. (Serious Learner's Batch)?
The S.L.B. is our main course for HSC Commerce. The name says a lot. It is meant for students who want to take 11th and 12th seriously and aim for a strong board result.
Here is what that looks like day to day:
- Classes every day, including Sundays and holidays, for 3 to 4 hours.
- All main Commerce subjects in one place, so you do not need a separate Accounts tuition.
- Problems solved in class, not just explained, so you leave with working you understand.
- A test at the end of every chapter.
- Board-style answer writing for theory subjects like OCM, SP and Economics.
It is a big commitment, and it is meant to be. Students who keep up with the routine usually find the board exam far less stressful than they expected.
Subjects Covered in Our Commerce Classes
In the Maharashtra HSC Commerce exam, each subject has an 80-mark written paper and 20 marks for internal assessment or project work. You need at least 35% in each subject to pass. Here is what we teach and where we put our focus.

How We Teach Commerce
Accounts is learnt by doing. Theory subjects are learnt by writing. So every chapter goes through the same five steps:
- Teach. The teacher explains the chapter in simple words, with real business examples.
- Solve together. For Accounts and Maths, the class works through problems step by step. For theory, we build model answers together.
- Practise. Students solve questions from our own study material and past board papers.
- Test. A chapter test checks what has really been understood.
- Review. Papers are checked and discussed. Common mistakes are cleared up before the class moves on.
Closer to the exam, students move on to major tests and full 3-hour board-pattern papers. By then, a board paper feels like just another test.
FYJC and SYJC: What Changes?
In 11th (FYJC), most students meet Book-Keeping and Accountancy for the first time. This is the year to build strong basics: journal entries, ledgers and final accounts. Students who get these right in 11th find 12th much easier.
In 12th (SYJC), the syllabus gets harder, with topics like partnership and company accounts, and the marks go on your HSC board mark sheet. This is also the year when college admissions depend on your result.
That is why we suggest joining in 11th if you can. If you are joining in 12th, our teachers will quickly check your basics and help you fill any gaps.

Who Teaches You
Saraswati Coaching Classes was started in 1991 by Ajit Kadam with just 12 students. He still leads the classes as founder and principal, with a team of more than 200 teachers and staff. Our Commerce teachers are subject specialists, and each one teaches only their own subject.
When Should You Join?
The best time to join is when a new S.L.B. batch starts in the first week of December. Starting on day one means you follow the full plan: syllabus, revision and the complete test series.

HSC Board Exam 2027: Key Dates
The Maharashtra Board has announced these dates for the HSC 2027 exam:
- Practicals, orals and internal assessments: 20 January to 6 February 2027
- Written board exams: 8 February to 16 March 2027

Is Accounts difficult for students who did not take it before?
Not if you practise. Most students meet Book-Keeping for the first time in 11th. Our teachers start from the basics, and daily practice of entries and final accounts builds speed and confidence within a few months.
What can I do after 12th Commerce?
Common options after 12th Commerce include B.Com, BMS, BAF and BBI, and professional courses like CA, CS and CMA. Good HSC marks help you get into the college and course you want.
